Pita Pit / Extreme Pita Franchises
« on: February 26, 2007, 03:23:43 PM »
In case anyone is unfamiliar with their concept, think of their stores as a place where Chipotle meets Subway. Deli style ingredients are put into a pita pocket that resembles a large burrito when complete. Personally, I love the food and all the restaurants I've been in have had large crowds.  Theses stores seem poised for a lot of expansion, and with their healthy and flavorful food I see little down-side.  Therefore, I'm considering opening a franchise. I'd appreciate any specific or general information on the stores or business, before I take the leap. Thanks!

I know several "pita" fast food places up here in the north-east.  None have done that well.  Pockets http://www.pocketsonline.com/  is here and they are totally dead except moderate traffic during lunch.  They serve pitas but don't emphasize it, and their branding beyond a logo is non-existent.

I don't know anything about Pita Pit, but the food better be extremely good and unique - not copy-cat common Chipotle or Subway as you describe.  Their web site pictures look ordinary.

Hey guys,
I have two Pita Pit stores up here in Canada.  I have to say I love the franchise however they are a lot of work.  I looked into Extreme Pita before hand however I never could work out how they make money.  Location is everything in this business.  The biggest difference between the two is Pita Pit generally concentrates on university and party towns unlike Extreme that seems to go anywhere.  I have to rely on a lunch, dinner, late nite and delivery rush every day so thats why my store is in between two universities and about 20 bars.  The extreme pitas seem to be placed anywhere.  Some of the Extreme stores in my town are up for sale for around $25000.  That says a lot.  If your a young guy then lean towards a Pita Pit (and know that location is EVERYTHING).  No matter what anybody says you cannot make good money off just a lunch rush with pitas.

good luck

Write a letter to their 8 franchisees, as of December 2005, and ask them.

Thank you, very helpful. I've worked in a pita shop similar to pita pit and have a good understanding of the business. Therefore I think, instead of franchising, I'll open up my own store to save royalties and with the hopes of establishing a chain in the future. I agree with you that positiioning near a college is key.
