On the lighter side: Dallas Morning News (5 Dec 06) reporting that the JFK Conspiracy Museum is to be replaced by a Quizno's:

There is an active discussion taking place at Blue MauMau about the unfortunate death by gunshot of Bob Baber a Quiznos Franchisee that commited suicide on November 27th. At the bequest of his family the original post Quiznos: A Tragic Ending to a Franchisee's Plight contains a copy of suicide note found on him by police after the shooting.

It's a very compelling story for anyone interested in franchising.

Whether you are franchisor, franchisee, or neither: what is most disturbing is the action taken by the Schadens and DLA Piper, and in particular the timing.

This is cruel and inhumane. If indeed there is a need to terminate, there is a time and this was not it.

On a larger scale, this action illustrates the precarious nature of one's investment as a franchisee. Many franchisors are led by decent folks who try to do the right thing. But if you are in a bad system, you can have your life's work and life's savings taken away on the whim of your franchisor.

There are many sandwich franchisors out there. Vote with your mouth and patronize one whose values you agree with.

If you wish to send a letter of protest to Quizno's or DLA Piper, you can see the letters on Janet Sparks post.

I want to thank The Franchise Pundit for exposing Quiznos shady business practices.  I was seriously considering buying an existing Quiznos at a "great price".  Then I realized there are a ton of them for sale at "great prices".  Smelling smoke I started digging deeper and quickly came across this site.  It is quite possible that this site and the people that post on it saved me from the nightmare other operators currently find themselves in.  THANK YOU!!!

As an aside, I saw this article:  http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/24/business/24quiznos.html   in the New York Times Business section today that is exposing Quiznos.  No new material here that this site has not already reported, but it is nice to see them getting "Toasted" in the New York Times!

Not to rub more salt in the wound, but another just went under.  The Exton, PA mall lost one within the past month.  You have to be pretty bad not to do well in this mall.  This location was already under a second ownership.  What always struck me as kind of odd was the big brown sign that gave you a complicated set of instructions on how to order a sandwich.
