Though legally the franchisor can not disclose the numbers of an actual store, you can contact a store and let them know the situation that you are in and would like some feedback.

Do your research!  Then seek a professional.

The franchisor can legally disclose the numbers in any store as long as they disclose the same numbers and their basis in their FDD.  If a franchisor tells you it cannot legally make an earnings claim, run away.

I can tell you that you may want to consider a Disc Replay franchise.  Disc Replay uses an item 19 Financial Performance Representation.  It is very impressive.  What is more impressive is that almost all the product they sell is higher margin used product.  If you are comparing franchise systems, find out how much used product each store is selling.

Disc Replay has been around since 1994, so their concept has a long history to it.

Also, their fees are very low.  Their initial franchise fee is only $12,500, and the royalty is 2.5%.  Plus they give you a five mile protected radius.  Their web site is discreplay.com

Hey stupid,
If you knew what you where talking about, you would know franchisors don't give out store metrics because losers end up suing them if they don't make the same numbers. So quit giving advice on crap you don't know about idiot! :'(

Uh, around 28% of franchisors give out earnings claims, or financial performance claims.  There is correlation between these franchisors and litigation.

To the person who called me stupid:  If you go to page 28 of Disc Replay's offering circular, item 19 under Financial performance representations, you will find a chart that gives gross sales #'s for 3 company owned stores for a 12 month period from September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008.  These are for the three company owned stores that have been in business for more than 1 year as of August 31, 2008.  The volume for those stores are as follows:  $797,518  $747,418  $745,600.  That is very impressive considering 98% of everything they sell is used!  You should avoid any franchisor that doesn't make at Item 19 representation, and run fast if they tell you its illegal to do so.  If you want to see it for yourself, google "Cal Easi".  You can see the franchise disclosure documents of any franchisor registered in California!  From what I could see online Play N Trade elects not to use an item 19 financial performance representation, formerly known as an "earnings claim".  In fact I think Disc Replay is the only video game franchisor to use an item 19 claim.  If you are thinking about buying a franchise in the video game business, also understand that Gamestop and EB Games does not franchise their concept.  All Gamestop's are owned by the company.  No matter what type of franchise you do, you should do your homework.  It is not enough to ask existing franchisees, how they are doing.  Ask them questions like, in what month did you become profitable.  In what month do you think most franchisees become profitable.  To all those looking at franchises...good luck.

Also, as it relates to protected territories, Disc Replay gives you a 5 mile protected radius.

I have looked at all the other copy cats out there and they can not hold a candle to Play N Trade. They try and bash it but when you really take a look at the leadership team, the store design, the amount of people actually working for the company that provide support to the franchisees its so much more than all the want to be's out there combined.

Do your homework people look at the facts and your see that Play N Trade is the only real viable option for the video game business.  None of the others have a prayer.

Pursuant to section 31406 of the Corporations Code, Play N Trade Franchise, Inc., Yuvi Shmul, and Thomas C. Bozarth are hereby ordered to desist and refrain from:

I check on all the copy cats and looks like they follow all the laws set forth by all the states on franchising unlike PNT.  Play it safe guys dont listen to employees of PNT corporate in here.  Nice try loyalist..........

I love how all of those defending Play N Trade have only 1 or two posts to their name. Just a little suspicious. So is the overall consensus that this franchise is one to stay away from? I recently saw an application where a new PNT franchisee who is just opening had a projected gross revenue of $900k? Wishful thinking?

$900k is wishful thinking, but it doesn't mean it is impossible.  A dense suburban area where you are the only option in town, and most of your potential customers know you are there, then you could easily make that amount of revenue.  What is your profit?  After you breakeven on sales, then there is a likely a somewhat fixed profit margin on the sales above that point.

Well, noone can speak up their minds about this business anymore, 1000+ postings by Play N Trade store owners were deleted by unhappyfranchisee.com because of the pressure play n trade corporate put on google and unhappyfranchisee.com. You could have read very valuable info about how these stores are dropping like flies and how owners were complaining, but these pages do not work anymore, oh well the scam continues.
