To the person who called me stupid: If you go to page 28 of Disc Replay's offering circular, item 19 under Financial performance representations, you will find a chart that gives gross sales #'s for 3 company owned stores for a 12 month period from September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008. These are for the three company owned stores that have been in business for more than 1 year as of August 31, 2008. The volume for those stores are as follows: $797,518 $747,418 $745,600. That is very impressive considering 98% of everything they sell is used! You should avoid any franchisor that doesn't make at Item 19 representation, and run fast if they tell you its illegal to do so. If you want to see it for yourself, google "Cal Easi". You can see the franchise disclosure documents of any franchisor registered in California! From what I could see online Play N Trade elects not to use an item 19 financial performance representation, formerly known as an "earnings claim". In fact I think Disc Replay is the only video game franchisor to use an item 19 claim. If you are thinking about buying a franchise in the video game business, also understand that Gamestop and EB Games does not franchise their concept. All Gamestop's are owned by the company. No matter what type of franchise you do, you should do your homework. It is not enough to ask existing franchisees, how they are doing. Ask them questions like, in what month did you become profitable. In what month do you think most franchisees become profitable. To all those looking at franchises...good luck.
